Some of the best jewellery ideas don't begin with a sketch.

They begin with a conversation.

Over the years, many of our customers visited Paddington Jeweller with the same concern.

"My earrings keep drooping."

"They start feeling uncomfortable after a few hours."

"I love these earrings, but they don't always sit quite right."

As jewellery designers, we realised the earrings themselves weren't always the problem.

Often, it was the butterfly back supporting them.

Those conversations stayed with us.

Instead of accepting it as something people simply had to live with, we began asking ourselves a different question.

Could we design a better solution?

An Idea Born While Designing the Norse Collection

Comfort Butterfly™ began with a simple observation.

While designing our Norse Collection, we realised that creating beautiful earrings was only part of the journey. We also wanted them to sit beautifully on every person who wore them.

As our designer, Shigeko, refined each earring in the collection, she carefully considered not only how every piece looked, but how it would sit when worn by different people.

Some of the Norse Collection designs feature elegant drops and carefully selected gemstones. During the design process, we realised that on some people, the natural weight of these earrings could cause them to tilt slightly forward.

We wanted every customer to experience the collection exactly as Shigeko had imagined it.

Rather than affecting the design of the earrings, we decided to redesign the part that supports them. Sometimes, the smallest innovations make the biggest difference.

That simple decision became the beginning of Comfort Butterfly™.

Inspired by Our Brand

Every original design begins with an idea.

For Comfort Butterfly, Shigeko wanted to create something that felt unmistakably Paddington Jeweller.

As the design evolved, Shigeko looked to one of the elements that has always represented Paddington Jeweller—our seashell logo.

Its soft, flowing curves inspired the silhouette of Comfort Butterfly™, giving this everyday jewellery component a shape that feels uniquely ours.

Sketch after sketch, every curve was refined until the design achieved the perfect balance between comfort, support and timeless simplicity.

Because we believe thoughtful design shouldn't stop where people can't see it.
